FAIRYS, FAERIES, AND OTHER CREATURES
Recently, I have discovered the world of "Fairies".
I have seen many interpretations from historical and contemporary Artist, and so believe that it boils down to "personal taste", as to how they should look. Fairie Imagery, is "subjective" in interpretation. And since everyone has a notion to how they "should look", I too have formulated my opinion.
My fairies will NOT show "pointed ears", (although I acknowledge that they might have them), mine do not. I always use the "Feminine" fairy subject , other than the "LORD of the RINGS" MALE gendered, AND POINTY EARED, versions. My fairies are NUDE or semi Nude. Thats how I think they should be, (They are "MY FAIRIES"!!!). Since they are created as a mythical object of beauty, to me, wings are important and I enjoy creating colorful patterns and variations for them.
I ALWAYS use a model to create a "Faery " painting. It is mutually understood, by both model and photographer/artist, that the work that comes from a "session" should be both enjoyable and rewarding! As ARTWORK is created both on film and later on the canvas, the reward is immortality!
I take my work seriously! I don't take "cheese cake" photos or Adult images.... Although both are considered valid "art forms", I keep my work just to the brink of community standards, and yet, still appealing to the "avant garde"... I might ask a model , "May I shoot you in the Nude??? (No, silly! Not me! ) I'm fully clothed at all times! However, I do employ models who are "comfortable in their own skin" and enjoy the expression of freedom that a nude shoot, or implied nudity, enhances a finished Photo or Painting.
